Lower demand for taxis over Hari Raya long weekend

SINGAPORE: Cabbies said the demand for taxis was lower on Monday than over the weekend, despite it being a public holiday for Hari Raya.

Some cabbies said passenger volume was up 10 per cent on Sunday.

A taxi stand at Tampines Mall usually sees long queues but at around 12.30pm on Monday, there were only a handful of people.

Those at the taxis stands in the Orchard Road area also did not have to wait long for a taxi.

A taxi driver said: "Today's not so good, maybe later on."

A passenger said: "You see many taxis and no people in line. I mean, taxis are coming in, very good. And traffic is also good."

On the whole, cabbies said their earnings over the long weekend was down some 10 per cent compared to other weekends.

PS:
Overall quite a slow weekend.
But not really a lousy one as long you work.
