A Certis CISCO spokesperson has replied that the armed
security personnel, who were spotted boarding taxis at an undesignated
area at Changi Airport's budget terminal today (Aug 7) morning by
STOMPer Richard, will be disciplined.
Said STOMPer Richard:
"Today (Aug 7), between 7.15am to 7.30am at Changi Airport Budget Terminal, I witnessed three groups of Certis Cisco officers openly committing an offence by boarding three taxis at a non designated location.
"Hiring or boarding taxis at this location is prohibited, but the security personnel were boarding cabs with the help of their colleague who was supposed to enforce security and order.
"I personally approached this officer on duty later to ask & he confirmed that the location is illegal to hire or board taxi.
"And I also told him that I saw him earlier assisting his off duty friends in uniform with weapons to board three taxis on three occasions between 7.15am to 7.30am.
"A senior Certis officer I later met was informed of this incident and I saw him talking to the duty officer later.
"To sum this up, these officers knew that what they were doing is illegal yet they dared to do it openly.
"This gives me the impression that they are above the law.
"Can these same people provide security for Changi Airport and protect our safety? I doubt it."
A spokesperson for Certis CISCO replied:
"We have investigated and identified the officers involved.
"Our officers were taking the taxis from the said location to report for duty at their respective duty posts in Seletar.
"It is stipulated by the Changi Airport Group that all taxi drivers are not allowed to pick up passengers at the Departure Kerbside of all the airport terminals.
"As such, we will take disciplinary action against the officers involved.
"We thank the STOMPer for highlighting the incident."
