Has HDB lost its way?

When HDB was formed, its main objective was to provide affordable housings to Singaporeans.
It had done its job well till when PRs are allow to buy HDB.
Because of this, HDB flats are getting more and more expensive.
Last time flats were bigger and cheaper.
Now its smaller and more expensive.
Even if the price of flat is not killing, the COV will.

Why can't they just fix it that 1 of the owner have to be Singaporean?
Thus will make PRs think twice about buying a HDB.
It will also make PRs consider about becoming citizen.

HDB should be an incentive for being a citizen of Singapore.
Even if it mean that there won't be profits when selling, its ok as long don't lose money.
As long citizens can get roof over their head at a affordable price, most won't complain.

Of cos, there will always be complains.
No matter how good a policy maybe, there will always be some that will never be satisfied.
But majority will be as long the basic roof is not way beyond means.
I hope we won't need more than a generation to fully paid for the basic housing.

  1. its main objective was to provide affordable housings to Singaporeans :

    - disallow sub-letting irregardless of reason (it's a suppose to be subsidize housing, not money making)

    - if PR allowed to buy, then PR can only sell back to HDB at "no profit" (this will cover their need, but ensure that they do not profit from it)

Simple reason, if one cannot makes a profit, there will be no incentive to speculate.

    1. disallow sub-letting, i don't agree fully.
cos this do bring in some income for sporeans.
maybe not the whole unit, just part of it.

I still think at least 1 owner must be sporean is better.
cos hdb should be really for sporeans.
