SINGAPORE - The decision on whether to call an election to fill the
vacancy of
an elected Member of Parliament lies with the Prime Minister,
and he has the discretion as to when to call it, ruled a High Court
judge on Wednesday.
"There is no requirement in the Constitution to call elections to
fill elected Member vacancies,"
said Justice Philip Pillai in his
53-page decision.
"There being no such requirement, there arises no prescribed time within which such elections must be called".
Justice Pillai's decision was in response to Hougang resident Madam
Vellama Marie Muthu's bid
to get the courts to order the Prime Minister
to hold a by-election in her ward within three months,
The Straits Times
reported.
PS:
So still no show by the mastermind?
Looks both of them are the sacrificing lambs...left out high and dry.
Doubt she will get any help from the mastermind to pay for court fees liao.
