Passengers run as metal pieces fall on BMW, taxi

STOMPer Unidentified Stranger saw a metal cladding falling from Prudential Tower Building on Cecil Street yesterday evening. The metal cladding smashed onto the rear of a taxi, damaging its boot.

The STOMPer writes:

"An unidentified object falls from the sky at Prudential Tower Building on Cecil Street yesterday evening.

"It cut through the branches of a tree, smashing onto the rear of a taxi in the process.

"The taxi was carrying a passenger but they were both unharmed."

It was reported by The Newpaper that three pieces of architectural metal trimming had fell from the roof of Prudential Tower. A BMW had its rear light smashed, another cladding smashed the boot of a taxi while the third metal cladding landed on the ground at a walkway nearby. The vehicles were parked behind the 30-storey tower.

A cladding is a cover typically found on building exteriors. They fell about 10m apart, and the longest piece measured about 1.2m.

A police spokesman said they received a call at about 7.15pm for assistance. Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Management Corporation Strata Title for Prudential Tower said that they are currently investigating the cause of the incident.
