The chairman of the SilkAir branch of the Air Line Pilots Association Singapore, was fined $1,000 on Monday for punching a neighbour.
Ajmer Singh Ajit Singh, 48, was found guilty of hurting Mr Chua Hock Kwee, 58, a taxi driver, by a district court after a seven day trial. The SilkAir pilot is appealing against the conviction and sentence.
Mr Chua filed a Magistrate's Complaint after the incident at the coffee shop in Changi Garden Condominium at Upper Changi Road North at 7pm on May 8, 2010.
The court heard that there was bad blood between them over joss sticks that Mr Chua used to burn outside his door.
The taxi driver had testified that Singh had walked towards his table in an aggressive manner and accused him of being a gangster. The pilot then punched him and his dentures fell out.
In his defence, Singh, who was a member of the condominium's management committee then, claimed that Mr Chua had attacked him.
However, his neighbour lost his balance and hit his cheek on the shoulder of a friend of Mr Chua who was seated at the table, said the pilot.
But the judge said that lawyers Kertar Singh and Anil Singh Sandhu had proven the case against the pilot.
The court did not grant the lawyers' request to be awarded costs for the prosecution and compensation for the injury suffered by Mr Chua.
