Motorcycle trapped under taxi in collision near Tampines Safra

STOMPer KS witnessed the aftermath of an accident involving a taxi and a motorbike opposite Tampines Safra.

KS said:

"I saw this at Tampines Safra around 8.30am.

"There was no police at the scene at the time."

PS:

Everyday sure got accident happen.

But only taxi will get so much so much hype about it.

Please don't take advantage!

Dear fellow cabbies,

Please don't take advantage!

No matter whether is passenger or fellow cabbies.

Why I say this, because I met one that try to take advantage of me today.

Today, I got to go Loyang to help collect the cab for my hirer.

As its quite rush, I decided to take a cab.

So I managed to flag down a Comfort cab, SHC29xx.

When I boarded, I told taxi uncle to go Loyang Comfort.

I also said to go by expressway.

From where I boarded the cab, about 300m infront on the right is the entrance to ECP.

But he kept left with the intention to turn left to PIE.

PIE is more than a 2km and 8 traffic lights away.

So when stopped at the junction (cos traffic turn red).

I told him at that junction to go by ECP, not PIE.

So I told him to turn by the next entrance to ECP further up, about 500m ahead.

Than he passed that entrance again.

I got pissed, and asked him why he didn't turn.

He said the turning point is further up.

He didn't know there is a turning point there.

Before anyone start saying he is a new driver.

Well, he is in his 60s.

So he is properly in this line for quite some time.

So I told him that I am a new cabby.

And I heard enough of their tactics.

So don't try bluff me.

Even on the way there, he also try to act blur about the way there.

When I alight, I told him that black sheep like him give all honest cabbies a bad name.

After I start driving taxi, this is the 1st time I meet a bad one.

勿洛德士电单车相撞　骑士受伤司机颤抖求救

勿洛深夜发生车祸，一辆德士和电单车相撞，19岁骑士受伤送院，

德士司机吓得双手发抖，电召救伤车。

这起车祸发生在昨晚10时10分，地点在勿洛北3街。

《新明日报》记者到场了解情况，有居民透露，事发前突听到一声巨响，往走廊往一看，惊见一辆电单车翻侧在马路中央，路旁的草地，躺着一名受伤的年轻男子。

涉及车祸的德士司机林先生（64岁）受访时说，他载送一名女乘客，在附近的停车场下车，没想到几分钟后竟与电单车相撞，当场吓坏。

满脸是血神志清醒，公众拿纸巾替他止血。

Taxi catches fire on expressway

SINGAPORE: A taxi caught fire on Tuesday afternoon along the Pan-Island Expressway towards Changi Airport, near the Old Police Academy.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted about the fire at about 12.45pm.

The fire was put out within 10 minutes of SCDF's arrival on the scene.

SCDF said no one was injured.

ComfortDelGro said its driver was travelling along the PIE when she noticed white smoke coming out of her car bonnet.

She quickly drove to the road shoulder and got out of the cab.

She was a distance away from it when she noticed flames coming out of the bonnet, and quickly notified the company which immediately sent emergency assistance.

SCDF firefighters arrived shortly after.

This is the second such incident in recent weeks involving ComfortDelGro's Sonata taxis.

On April 24, a taxi burst into flames in the Kampong Java tunnel of the Central Expressway (CTE).

ComfortDelGro said on Tuesday that it is doubling up efforts to pinpoint the cause. It is in very close contact with the manufacturer, which will be sending a specialist from South Korea to assist with investigations.

ComfortDelGro said the cause of the fire is still not known but said there are several possibilities. These include a shorting of the electrical circuitry.

The company said once it is sure of the cause or causes of the incidents, it will recall its taxis to make sure that this does not happen again.

The manufacturer, Komoco Motors, said in a statement that a specialist team of technicians will conduct a full investigation at all ComfortDelGro taxi service centres next week.

Their task is to make random inspections of all high-usage taxis and ensure minimum recurrence of the incidents.

Cabby finds $30,000 in bag

CityCab driver Mr Lim Beng Teck, 50, had picked up a male passenger along Battery Road at 10am on May 2.

After the passenger alighted at The Central, Mr Lim noticed a black bag in the back seat after driving off.

He then stopped at the Liang Court taxi stand and found 150,000 yuan (S$29,700) in the bag.

Mr Lim could not locate the passenger at The Central and reported the find to ComfortDelGro’s lost and found department in Sin Ming. The bag and the money were eventually returned to the rightful owner.

The honest cabby said that if he didn't return it, he would not feel good and his conscience would have "bugged" him.

'King Kong' invades AMK MRT station

A female commuter dressed in a gorilla costume, resembling cult movie character King Kong, at Ang Mo Kio MRT station this morning (May 02) caught the attention of STOMPer Kong Wen Bin, who was amused by the sight.

The STOMPer wrote:

"King Kong seen at AMK MRT Station this morning (May 02).

"It's interesting how this lady thought of dressing herself up like King Kong.

"Today is neither Halloween nor is it any special occasion -- perhaps it's something personal for her, I guess.

"The ironic thing is that everyone looked so calm and relaxed in the train and at the station.

"I wonder how children would have reacted when they saw this female King Kong. Hopefully, they were not frightened by her.

"Interesting choice of fashion."

Looks like 'King Kong' not outdated...

Taxi crashes into car at Bukit Panjang

STOMPer Jee saw a taxi crash into a brown car ar 6.30pm today (May 06). The accident occurred at Block 125 Pending Road, near Bukit Panjang.

Said the STOMPer:

"This accident occurred at Bukit Panjang, Block 125 Pending Road, at 6.30pm today (May 6).

"I was smoking in my living room when I saw this accident between the taxi and the brown car.

"The taxi wanted to make a right turn, but the brown car had the right of way.

"The taxi failed to check the right blindspot and just moved off.

"That is how the accident happened.

"Please check your blindspot before moving off!"

We all should really be more careful.

苦恋已婚德士佬　阿嬷带4岁孙添气站堵情郎

51岁阿嬷爱上已婚德士司机，不满男友突避不见面，竟然带着小孙女到添气站等男友出现。

苦守了整整4天，终于让阿嬷等到男友出现，但她万万没想到，男友竟然载着妻子去添天然气。

男友的妻子没想到阿嬷如此明目张胆，气得当场拂袖而去，阿嬷乘机跳进德士后不肯下车，男友竟载着阿嬷去追妻子。

据添气站的职员说，当时阿嬷坚持不下车，德士司机只好载着她去追妻子，就在附近发现妻子站在对面马路，他赶紧停车后下车，隔着马路向妻子高喊解释。

日等10多小时，无辜孙女受苦；拿情郎照片，逢人就诉苦。

"At about 11.13pm on May 1st 2012, I was rejected by two Comfort Delgro taxis at White Sands Shopping Centre taxi stand as I wanted to pay by Nets.

"The first taxi (SH 9878H), driven by a chinese male, actually spoke to me in Mandarin saying that he does not accept Nets payment. For your information, I do not look like a chinese - I am a Singaporean malay lady and there is not one part of me that looks chinese.

"The latter (SHC 3134S), driven by a malay male, also rejected my request in Malay when I informed him that I wish to pay by Nets. He then asked me where my destination was and when I informed him that it was Jurong West, he actually paused for a moment and rejected me again.

"If I was not rushing for time to head towards my destination, I would not take a cab -- why waste close to forty dollars when the MRT was still available?

"Lucky for me, a Transcab (SHD 0167L) was next in line.

"From what was explained to me later on by the cab driver, all transactions that took place before 10.00pm will be credited into the cab driver's account the day after.

"Could this be a reason as to why I was rejected by the two Comfort taxi drivers? Is it because the amount will only be credited two days later as it was already after 10.00pm?

"Please do not give me reasons such as 'they are heading home', 'they prefer to go somewhere at the east area' or that the 'Nets machine was down'.

"If the Nets machine is down, then why didn't the cab drivers tell me that? Why, then, does Transcab accepts Nets?

"Comfort Delgro has always been my first choice whenever I make a taxi booking or when I hail a taxi.

"All I can say now is that I am truly disappointed with Comfort Delgro.

"I am disappointed in the drivers and with the company that these drivers represent.

"I do believe that Comfort Delgro owe me an explanation."
